Day 1: Ulaanbaatar

After arriving in Ulaanbaatar, you will be greeted at the airport and escorted to your hotel. Enjoy a city tour including a visit to Gandan Monastery, home to the statue of Magjid Janraisig (the Lord Who Looks in Every Direction). The statue is about 25 meters tall and is covered with a large number of precious stones.

The next stop will be Sukhbaatar Square, where all central government departments, including the Government House, are located. Lunch will be served at a restaurant.

Then, enjoy an excursion to the Zaisan Hill War Memorial for a panoramic view of the entire city. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Ikh Gazriin Chuluu (~290 km)

After breakfast, drive to Ikh Gazriin Chuluu. These rocky mountains are located in Dundgovi Aimag and stretch from west to east for about 20 kilometers.

There are many interesting stories about historical figures who once lived in or hid in the caves from the royal authorities of that time. These caves are often named after those people. The area has rich plant life and is home to many wild animals.

Day 3: Khamriin Khiid (~320 km)

Today, drive to Khamriin Khiid. Shambhala Land of the Khamriin Khiid Monastery was created by Danzanravjaa, the Noble Saint of the Gobi. He gathered his disciples among the colorful hills near the monastery to draw symbolic representations of the Shambhala Land.

They created a meditation area with wooden stupas, a ceremonial gate, and stone heaps. Here, His Holiness offered prayers to reunite with his disciples in the Holy Shambhala Land.

This sacred site has become one of the most important places for prostration and circumambulation today.

Day 4: Ongon Soum (~360 km)

Today, drive to Ongon Soum.

Day 5: Altan Ovoo Mountain & Taliin Agui Cave (~250 km)

After breakfast, drive to Altan Ovoo Mountain and Taliin Agui.

Taliin Agui, or the Steppe Cave, is the largest cave in Mongolia with seven chambers to explore. Its entrance remains covered with ice until August.

Day 6: Undurkhaan Town (~370 km)

After breakfast, drive to Undurkhaan, the center of Khentii Aimag.

Day 7: Deluun Boldog (~270 km)

Birthplace of Chinggis Khan

For his 800th birthday, a statue of Chinggis Khan was erected in 1962 at Deluun Boldog, believed to be his birthplace near present-day Dadal Soum in the northwestern Khentii region.

The area features trails, lakes, and monuments where visitors can learn why this great leader is still revered today. Dadal Soum once housed one of three major Lamaist temples dedicated to Chinggis Khan, which were destroyed in the 1930s.

Today, stone monuments stand in the beautiful Mongolian countryside.

Day 8: Khar Zurkh Khukh Lake (~260 km)

Today, drive to Khukh Lake. This freshwater lake consists of two lakes connected underground and is located south of Mount Khar Zurkh at an elevation of 1,675 meters.

The area is rich in natural beauty, wildlife, and vegetation. In 1189, Temuujin was crowned here as the ruler of the united Mongolian tribes and titled Chinggis Khan, meaning “Oceanic Great King.”

The Secret History of the Mongols mentions Lake Khukh, Mount Khar Zurkh, and Sengur Gorkhi. On the lakeshore stands a monument dedicated to the 840th birth anniversary of Chinggis Khan, surrounded by 36 wooden statues of royal lineage kings in a 108-meter crescent formation.

At the center are statues of Chinggis Khan, his father Yesukhei, his mother Hoelun, and his wife Börte. Information boards in English and Mongolian describe each ruler’s achievements.

The complex includes 50 wooden statues, including nine of Chinggis Khan’s marshals.

Day 9: Terelj National Park (~220 km)

After breakfast, drive to Terelj National Park, part of the Khan Khentii Protected Area and designated a Strictly Protected Area in 1992.

The park is famous for its massive granite formations, cliffs, and wildflower-filled meadows. Pine-covered mountains and unique rock formations create stunning scenery.

The average elevation is 1,600 meters, with peaks reaching 2,900 meters. The park is rich in flora and fauna and resembles beautiful Alpine valleys.

Day 10: Ulaanbaatar (~60 km)

Drive back to Ulaanbaatar. After checking into the hotel, relax after the long journey. In the evening, enjoy a traditional folklore performance.
