Day 1: Ulaanbaatar
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to your hotel to refresh. Embark on a city tour that includes the National History Museum, Sukhbaatar Square, and Zaisan Hill.
Day 2: Ulaanbaatar – Elsen Tasarkhai
Drive to the Elsen Tasarkhai dunes, where you can enjoy the desert landscape and ride camels. Visit Uvgun Temple, located on Khugnu Khaan Mountain at an elevation of 1,962 meters. The Khugnu Khaan Mountain area, spanning 469,900 hectares, has been a protected field since 1997.
Day 3: Elsen Tasarkhai – Kharkhorin
After breakfast, transfer to Kharkhorin, the ancient capital city of Mongolia, which was officially proclaimed in 1235 by Ugudei Khan. Visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in Mongolia. It was built in 1586 on the ruins of the ancient capital, and remarkably, no nails were used in its construction. After dinner, climb a small hill to see the memorial of the Mongolian Kings and enjoy a panoramic view of Kharkhorin and the Orkhon River. Overnight in a tourist camp.
Day 4: Kharkhorin – Tsetserleg
Drive to Tsetserleg via the Tsenkher hot springs, where water temperatures reach 65–90°C from deep underground. The water is very fresh and used for multiple therapeutic purposes. In Tsetserleg, head to the Zayayn Monastery, located in front of Bulgan Mountain and founded in 1631. Afterward, transfer to Taikhar Rock, a 16-meter-high rock formation inscribed with ancient Mongolian scripts. Finally, visit a nomadic family to explore their interesting lifestyle. Overnight with a nomadic family.
Day 5: Tsetserleg – Khorgo-Terkhi National Park
Start your day with a delicious Mongolian breakfast. Then, proceed to Khorgo-Terkhi National Park, where you can see the extinct Khorgo Volcano as well as the admirable Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake (Great White Lake). Overnight in a tourist camp.
Day 6: Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake
Depart from Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake in the morning to visit Choidogiin Borgio, a tiny waterfall formed during a massive historic flood. In the spring, you can watch fish jumping in the river. Overnight by the lake.
Day 7: Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake – Battsengel Soum
Drive to Battsengel Soum in Arkhangai Province. Here, you will gain further experience with a nomadic family, learning about their livestock, traditional foods, and culture. Spend the night in a nomadic ger.
Day 8: Battsengel – Ugii Lake
Head to Ugii Lake, situated 1,337 meters above sea level. The lake is home to various fish species and has a maximum depth of 15 meters. The water is very fresh, making it a wonderful spot for swimming.
Day 9: Ugii Lake – Dashinchilen Soum.
In the 16th century, Mongolian people constructed approximately 10 stone temples by hand. After breakfast, drive to Dashinchilen Soum to see the ruins of one of these temples, Khar Bukh Balgas. You will also visit the Chin Tolgoi ruins, a protected area that served as a palace guard tower in the 17th century. Overnight with a nomadic family.
Day 10: Hustai National Park
Drive to Hustai National Park, a world-famous site known for the successful reintroduction of Przewalski’s horses. The Takhi is a native Mongolian animal that has disappeared from the wild since 1960. The park has become a premier attraction for international tourists and guests.
Day 11: Hustai National Park – Ulaanbaatar
Head back to Ulaanbaatar. Take some time to rest in a comfortable hotel and enjoy your final evening in the city.
Day 12: Departure
Transfer to the airport. Your driver and tour guide will see you off at Chinggis Khaan International Airport.
