Day 1: July 09 – Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Arrive in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. You will be greeted at the airport and escorted to a 4★ hotel. After lunch, take a city tour to Gandan Monastery, where you will see a huge gold-plated Buddha, a symbol of Mongolian national pride and cultural revival, Ulaanbaatar City Museum, Central Square, and the National Museum of Mongolia, where you will see artifacts from Mongolia and Central Asia dating from the Stone Age to the present day. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 2: July 10 – Mongol Nomadic Show & Naadam Festival Preview

Meet at the hotel and drive to the Mongol Nomadic Show. It demonstrates the traditional lifestyle of real Mongolian nomads, including the breeding and use of five kinds of livestock and seasonal movement using ox, yak, camel, and horse carts.

The Mongolian ger is traditionally made, and all furniture, pots, and clothing are antiques reflecting the culture of the Central Khalkha people in the early 20th century. Enjoy a yak and horse riding trial.

After lunch, return to Ulaanbaatar to see the preview of the Naadam Festival. You will visit the archery and “Shagai” shooting competitions and enjoy a national folklore performance. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 3: July 11 – Naadam Festival Opening Ceremony

This morning, you will watch the ceremonial dispatch of the “Nine White Banners” from the State Palace to the stadium. Then proceed to the stadium to watch the inauguration ceremony of Naadam, officially opened by the President of Mongolia.

The ceremony features marches and music performed by soldiers, monks, and athletes. There will also be live performances of the national instrument, the Morin Khuur, and a choir concert before the real festivities begin.

Wrestling and archery tournaments will be held at the Central Stadium, while horse racing takes place outside the city center. After lunch, drive to Hui Doloon Hudag to watch the horse races. In the evening, you may optionally attend a Mongolian music concert at Central Square. Fireworks will conclude the celebrations. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 4: July 12 – Fly to South Gobi & Bayanzag (Land of the Dinosaurs)

Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Dalanzadgad. The Discover Mongolia team will meet you upon arrival. Drive to Bayanzag, also known as the Flaming Cliffs, where the first dinosaur eggs were discovered in 1922. This site is renowned for its dinosaur remains, which date back approximately 60 million years.

Enjoy walking where dinosaurs once roamed and learn about saxaul trees and desert vegetation. On the way, visit the Havtsgait petroglyphs. In the evening, enjoy photography at the Flaming Cliffs and watch a documentary about the area. Overnight in a tourist camp.

Day 5: July 13 – Mongolia’s Largest Sand Dunes & Camel Ride

Drive to the Khongor Sand Dunes early in the morning. Climb the dunes for a panoramic view of the Gobi Desert. These are Mongolia’s largest dunes, reaching heights of up to 300 meters.

After lunch, visit a camel herder's family to experience their lifestyle and traditions. Enjoy a 2–3 hour camel ride through the Uujim Valley. Bactrian camels are gentle and comfortable to ride, and your guide will lead you safely through the dunes.

The dunes change color throughout the day, from yellow to silver to rose at sunrise and sunset. In the evening, enjoy stargazing in the Gobi Desert. Overnight in a tourist camp.

Day 6: July 14 – Eagle Valley (Yolyn Am)

Today’s destination is Yolyn Am, also known as Eagle Valley. Travel to Yol and Dungene Valleys and hike through spectacular canyons where ice remains even in summer.

Enjoy light hiking, photography, and wildlife viewing. Visit the Gobi Museum. These areas are part of Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park, home to the “Three Beauties” peaks and the easternmost points of the Altai Mountains. Overnight in a tourist camp.

Day 7: July 15 – Fly to Ulaanbaatar & Chinggis Khaan Statue

After breakfast, fly back to Ulaanbaatar. Then drive to the Giant Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex. The 40-meter-high statue depicts Chinggis Khaan holding a golden whip.

You will also visit souvenir and cashmere shops and attend a national folklore concert. Overnight in the hotel.

Day 8: July 16 – Departure from Mongolia

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your departure.
