Day 1: Travel to Baga Gazriin Chuluu
Your service team will pick you up from your hotel at 8:30 am. Board the vehicle and drive south toward the Gobi. The rock formations of Baga Gazriin Chuluu form a picturesque mountain rising to an elevation of 1,751 meters in Mongolia’s Granite Belt. After a 5-hour drive, arrive at your ger camp, where you will be staying tonight, and enjoy lunch. Later, venture out to explore the caves, streams, and shrines that dot this sacred site.
The scenery is beautiful, and the area is home to abundant wildlife unique to the Gobi, including diverse flora and fauna. Enjoy 2–3 hours of hiking through the mountains. Overnight stay in a ger camp. LD
Day 2: Travel to Tsagaan Suvarga
In the morning, return to the road and travel 240 km south to the impressive cliffs of Tsagaan Suvarga, translated as White Stupa, named for its appearance. This stunning site features 30-meter-high white limestone formations shaped over thousands of years by wind erosion.
After arrival, enjoy lunch and take a walk through the rock formations, offering excellent photography opportunities. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 3: Travel to Yol Valley & Hiking
In the morning, drive approximately 220 km to Yol Valley (Lammergeier’s Gorge). This picturesque valley is nestled between the dramatic peaks of the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains and is home to rich wildlife. Visit the Gobi Museum and enjoy a trek through the valley. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 4: Travel to Khongor Sand Dunes
Today, leave the paved road and venture deeper into the Gobi Desert to Mongolia’s largest dunes, Khongor Els. Known as the Singing Dunes, they rise to 300 meters high, stretch 15 km wide, and extend for 180 km. Watch for gazelles and birds of prey as you drive through this scenic and wildlife-rich area.
After a traditional lunch, walk through the golden dunes and enjoy breathtaking views from the top. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 5: Ride a Bactrian Camel
Before breakfast, if you missed the sunset the previous evening, take a short drive to the dunes to witness a spectacular sunrise. Otherwise, enjoy breakfast at the camp restaurant before heading out for a camel ride lasting a few hours along the dunes.
The afternoon schedule is flexible. You may choose a longer hike, a walk along the river, more time exploring the dunes for photography, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery. Discuss your preferences with your guide. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 6: Explore Ancient Petroglyphs and Bayanzag
Continue traveling 170 km to Bayanzag. En route, stop at the sacred site of Khavtsgait, where hundreds of ancient stone engravings (petroglyphs) can be found atop rocky hills. Some of these carvings date back to 3000 BC, created by hunters while waiting for prey.
Enjoy sweeping desert views before arriving at the Bayanzag Flaming Cliffs, where American explorer Roy Chapman Andrews discovered the world’s first dinosaur eggs. This area remains one of the most famous paleontological sites globally. Explore the saxaul forest and striking red cliffs shaped by erosion over millions of years.
This region is internationally renowned for dinosaur skeletons, eggs, and hatchlings from the Cretaceous Period. After lunch at the camp, stroll for one to two hours among the flaming-red cliffs. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 7: Travel to the Ongi Temple Ruins & Walking
Travel 140 km to the ruins of Ongi Monastery. Walk around the temple complex, originally founded in 1760 to commemorate the Dalai Lama’s first visit to Mongolia. You may visit the stupa bearing the names of victims and meet local monks. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 8: Travel to the Orkhon Valley
Today, travel to the Orkhon Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ancestral heartland of Mongolian nomadic culture. Enjoy sweeping views of the valley before arriving at a local yak herder family, where you will stay in an authentic guest ger just a mile from Orkhon Waterfall.
Experience traditional nomadic hospitality by learning Mongolian cooking techniques such as preparing buuz (steamed dumplings) or huushuur (fried meat pastries). Socialize with your hosts over mare’s milk and milk tea. Overnight stay in a ger alongside a yak-herding family. BLD
Day 9: Horse Riding – Nomadic Family Stay in Orkhon Valley
After a home-cooked breakfast, saddle up for a horseback ride to Orkhon Waterfall, a scenic cascade on the Ulaan Tsutgalan River, measuring 20 meters high and 10 meters wide. Return to the family camp for lunch.
In the afternoon, participate in nomadic activities such as milking yaks or observing the preparation of curds, yogurt, and traditional milk vodka. Alternatively, relax, read, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Overnight stay in a ger alongside a yak-herding family. BLD
Day 10: Travel to Kharakhorum
Travel 120 km to Kharakhorum, the ancient capital of Mongolia, where Chinggis Khan established his headquarters in 1220. Visit the local museum showcasing Mongolia’s rich history and explore Erdene Zuu Monastery, the country’s first and largest Buddhist temple complex, built on the ruins of the 16th-century city.
Later, visit a local cooperative to participate in a traditional felt-making workshop. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 11: Wild Horses – Wildlife Tracking
Travel 260 km to Hustai National Park, covering 50,620 hectares, and home to the reintroduced Takhi (Przewalski’s horses). Explore the park and observe these rare wild horses in their natural habitat. Overnight stay in a ger camp. BLD
Day 12: Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex – Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, travel to the impressive Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex. Climb inside the statue and walk up the staircase along the horse’s mane to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Tuul River, Terelj, and the Khan Khentii Mountains. Enjoy lunch at the complex restaurant before driving back to Ulaanbaatar for drop-off at your preferred location. End of services. BL
